The IT University was established in 1999 in Copenhagen. It is Denmark’s leading university focusing on IT research and education and is the university in Denmark that educates most IT specialists. In 2017, the ITU founded the European Blockchain Center (EBC) as the first European research center on blockchain. The EBC conducts research and education on blockchain-based systems and -solutions, as well as supports private and public industries in realising blockchain systems to generate value for society. Researchers from the European Blockchain Center are represented in and have worked with the European Blockchain Partnership (EBP), the ISO, the EU Expert Group on Blockchain Ethics (EGBE), and the European Blockchain Sandbox. The European Blockchain Center is leading leading blockchain research and informing and guiding public and private institutions. ITU is a partner in the EBSI-VECTOR projects and is participating in WP1 “Project management and coordination” and WP2 “Strategizing for scaling up, take-up, and interoperability of EBSI use cases”. The IT University of Copenhagen is leader of Task 1.4 “Data Management Plan & IPR Management”, Task 1.5 “Data Protection & Ethics”, and Task 2.2. “Interoperability.
