This EBSI-VECTOR Information Pill highlights the project’s work piloting decentralized identity technology in the education sector across Europe. By collaborating with 31 organizations in 10 countries, the project explored key use cases such as secure academic record management, student mobility, Erasmus+ participation, digital diploma issuance, and student card verification. Initial results show strong institutional interest and positive outcomes, while also identifying challenges like funding and technology adoption. Collaborative efforts in EBSI-VECTOR focused on establishing the foundational elements for implementing cross-border social security use cases using digital infrastructures and Verifiable Credentials. The initiative addressed key instruments like the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) and Portable Document A1 (PD A1), identifying challenges in current systems and the need for improved authenticity and interoperability.
