(EBSI-Vector Information Pills: Implementation and results I)
Today, we begin the final stage in the series launched several weeks ago with the publication of the EBSI-VECTOR Information Pills. This new set of short articles focus on the project’s implementation phase and its key results.
In this context, EBSI-VECTOR has worked to develop a business blueprint for the implementation of verifiable digital credentials within the European education ecosystem. The main objective is to streamline the recognition of academic achievements across borders, delivering tangible benefits to students, educational institutions, and employers throughout the EU..
The blueprint outlines key areas for integrating digital credentials, including:
- Formal Academic Qualifications: Digital verification of diplomas and transcripts for seamless recognition across institutions and countries.
- Micro-credentials and Lifelong Learning: Issuance of digital micro-credentials to validate skills acquired through various learning pathways, supporting lifelong learning.
- Student Mobility: Enabling easy transfer and recognition of qualifications for students studying abroad.
- Employer Verification: Simplifying credential verification for employers, reducing fraud in recruitment.
- Emerging Use Cases: Exploring additional uses of digital credentials, such as validating student status and protecting academic IP.
Leveraging Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) and the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI), the blueprint provides a strategy for stakeholders—students, institutions, employers, and certifiers—to interact with a decentralized system of verifiable credentials.
These findings are fully documented in Deliverable D4.1: “Business Blueprint (Education)”. We encourage you to explore it further.
We look forward to sharing the upcoming information pills with you!
