(EBSI-Vector Information Pills: Specifications V)
Part of EBSI-VECTOR works were directed towards developing specifications for business registries within the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI). The goal was to define how national business registries in EU member states can leverage EBSI to manage digital organizational identities, establish trust, and issue or revoke credentials for legal entities.
The initiative aimed to create a clear framework for national registries to operate as Trusted Accreditation Organizations (TAOs) within EBSI, enhancing transparency and efficiency in digital transactions. The project analyzed the current landscape of business registries and the EBSI DID (Decentralized Identifier) Registry, proposing solutions for integrating these systems.
Key otucomes:
- Proposed processes for issuing Legal Person Identifiers (LPIs) as root-TAOs.
- Recommendations for generating Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) at national registries.
- Defined functional requirements for stakeholders, including use case designers, EBSI developers, and wallet providers.
- Designed pilot scenarios for testing in Italy, Poland, and Slovenia.
The work considered several EU regulations, including the Digital Services Act (DSA), the GDPR, and eIDAS2, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory frameworks.
This initiative marks a significant step in establishing EBSI-based business registries, laying the foundation for improved trust, interoperability, and security in cross-border digital interactions across the EU.
These findings are fully documented in Deliverable D3.7: “Specification for the business registries on EBSI and pilot scenarios.” . We encourage you to explore it further.
We look forward to sharing the upcoming information pills with you!
